Bellingham Teen Gets Prison For Attempted Rape

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- A Bellingham teenager will spend nearly eight years in prison for the attempted rape of a barista last August.

The Bellingham Herald reports a Whatcom Superior Court Judge sentenced 17-year-old Daniel Bernard to seven years and eight months for the attempted rape.

Bernard was tried as an adult and convicted of attacking the 25-year-old woman as she opened the Cruisin’ Coffee stand on Lakeway Drive early on August 25.

Investigators say he confessed to the crime after his arrest on September 4.
