Suspect In Fairhaven Bank Robberies Named

FAIRHAVEN, Wash. -- There’s finally a name and now a possible motive for the suspected serial bank robber who hit the Fairhaven Banner Bank twice this summer.

Fifty-four-year-old Todd Kirkpatrick of Anacortes was identified in search warrants after he was shot in the Stanwood Bank robbery last week according to the Everett Herald.

Kirkpatrick had worked in property development, but when the economy took a nosedive his debt soared, totaling tens of thousands of dollars.

Investigators tell the Herald Kirkpatrick is likely the prolific “phony pony bandit” – named for his disguise of a black wig tied in a ponytail. He’s hit numerous banks across three counties.

The Herald notes officials have not publicly named Kirkpatrick a suspect. He is still in the hospital and has yet to be formally arrested.
