Grizzlies' VP of basketball operations found dead

Memphis, TN (Sports Network) - Memphis Grizzlies vice president of basketball operations and team programs Dana Davis has passed away, the team announced Wednesday.

The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports that Davis had not been heard from since late Tuesday afternoon. Team personnel entered his apartment Wednesday with the help of the Memphis Police Department.

Davis, 56, was found dead. Foul play is not suspected.

He was set to enter his 13th season with the Grizzlies.

"We are deeply saddened by the untimely death of Dana Davis," Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins said. "This is an enormous loss for the Grizzlies organization, but an even bigger loss for me personally. He was a man of many hats with numerous responsibilities, always willing to take on more and go the extra mile. We will all miss "Double-D" greatly. This is truly a sad day for our organization."
